You should feel that as you swallow, the muscles underneath your chin activate and push down against your thumb. But many singers raise their larynx unconsciously when they sing high notes. And if the larynx is too high on your high notes, it can actually cause you to strain.
You should notice that the larynx rises as you swallow. You should notice that even on high notes, your voice is staying more relaxed. Now that your larynx is more relaxed in your songs, you may notice that your vocal tone is a bit operatic or classical-sounding. Remember, in order to sound good, sometimes we have to sound silly. So building on the relaxation that you get on the dopey sound, I want to give you an exercise that will get you closer to a normal sound without straining.
You should notice that even though the vocal tone is a bit nasal-sounding, the bratty exercise will help you sing the high notes in the phrase much more easily. And sometimes your voice needs a bit more support to get to those high notes. By now your voice should be completely warmed up and strain-free. As soon as you no longer need them, try to wean yourself off of them. You should notice that singing these more narrow vowels makes the phrase way easier to sing. By now you should be able to hit high notes in your voice without any strain.

I'll admit that it's taking me a while to process my thoughts on this one. The psychological and emotional dynamics between the characters were fascinating.
The author has created a work of fiction that IS something more. By the end you understand the deeper needs of the main character -- and given the subject matter, that is an amazing feat handled deftly and with compassion. I couldn't stop listening to this story, needing to know what would happen next, but I had to pace myself because it was very visceral and I found myself immersed in the story at odd times during the day, whether listening or not.
My only caveat, and it is a small one, is due to the reader. He was excellent when portraying the voice of the editor, which is a large part of the story. But his interpretation of Nora was unfortunate. He made a sexy, teasing woman sound evil and threatening more often than not, and I found myself wishing for a female voice worthy of Nora's personality. Still, it did not overwhelm my enjoyment of the book. I know there are sequels to this one, but I'm going to need a little time before I take the next one on.
I hope it's as good as the first. Lost interest very quickly. Had a hard time following sometimes because of the narrators accent. Going into a first book of the series I always have to tell myself the author is world building and to bear with all inner monologue and with this book there is a lot of character building but I guess that is because the author wants us to really get a grasp on who each of our main characters are and why they are or do the things they do.
Nora is awesome!! She kinda scares me in a good way. The interaction between her and her house boy Wesley I loved, Wes is probably at this point my favorite character.
His accent makes him even that much sweeter. His heart is so big and I can see it getting hurt pretty easily. When we meet Soren that really is when all bets are off. This is where the steam comes in. I want and need to know more. I am not really a fan of the narrator I mean I love his accent but he sounds a little old. The Siren. Narrated by: Aeron James.
