Reviewer: seedanrun - favorite favorite favorite favorite - August 21, Subject: Great show Like the 18th and 20th, this is some great Dead. However, the sound is not quite "there"-- literally. The presence is lacking; it is like listening from just outside the hall. My guess is that there was actually some Dolby NR was applied at some point implying an unlisted cassette gen , destroying the high frequencies.
I don't mean to overstate my criticism -- this is not a bad-sounding SBD in any way, it's just not quite as great as many '77s.

Gotta' say the Colgate show stacks up similarly in a LOT of respects to this show besides also opening with Bertha Alot transpired between February '77 and December '77 and these two shows embrace that evolution! I think this even tops it. Fast Furious Eyes is a treat. Wharf Rat so full of feeling. Terrapin is killer with some great interplay between Jerry, Phil and Keith. Also I am surprised no one has mentioned how wonderful Keith sounds in this show. This was an absloutely stellar night for the whole band. This has to be a Betty Board.
Thank you Dead, Betty, and Archive!!!! Reviewer: bedhead - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - July 27, Subject: liquid anyone? The double encore is always an indication of how hot a show was, how energised the crowd became and how the band connected with its audience that night. The Dead came to play and many an individual converted to full deadhead status that fateful night.
I cannot say enough about these Winterland shows. They really do bring it all back to me. Come hear Uncle John's Band because we got some things to talk about. Five Grinning Skulls! No words can really describe the power of this show. Blows away the night before in my book. Don't get me wrong is just as awesome, but Probably the best Eyes and Wharf Rat I've ever heard. A must for any Head. Reviewer: capn doubledose - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - February 9, Subject: Flawless If there was a show you needed to place into a space capsule and with a note attached "this is the grateful dead at their peak" this is the show.
Have never heard this before today and wow - dancin, franklins, sugar mag, TLEO, big river The LLR also has some great jerry leads behind some powerful bobbie singin. Reviewer: chetreli - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - January 12, Subject: Fast Eyes! If you love the vibe of Dead via '77 and who doesn't? Love the fast and furious Eyes! Reviewer: Spelunki - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - December 23, Subject: Great, great show.
This is one of the greatest shows I have ever heard. Listen to the intense second set. What a treat. Should be on Dicks Picks. Reviewed in the United States on June 2, It is clearly evident for fans of the label giants, Renaissance and Global Underground that both try hard to be fresh in track selection in relation to the other for the most part.
They generally use the same world-class DJ's and each have their unique subseries titles. More often than not, I feel the consumer gets a little more bang for their buck with Renaissance titles. At least when it comes to diversity within a multiple disc set.
The same holds true with this compilation. Two discs that are so completely different, I had to initially convince myself that the duo Deep Dish mixed them both. Disc 1 still gets a lot of play time at my place. Wonderful and creative mix that would still hold up in most clubs or live venues today well, maybe that's a overstatement. This one takes you on a great journey courtesy D.

So Johnny, and maybe rightly so, took this turn of events for a sign/5(9).
